hand, wounding the child fatally. Segal dies a few hours later. br His wife has three fingers cut off, and a yeshiva student in the br house loses his left hand. In the same house the great masmid br (“eternal learner of Torah”) of the yeshiva, Simcha Yitzhak br Broida, twenty-eight, of Vilkomir, Lithuania, is dangled head br down from the window and tortured to death. With him dies br sixteen-year-old Brooklyn-born Chaim Krasner and a couple br that have come to Hebron for a Sabbath visit, Asher Moshe and br Chaya Gutman of Tel Aviv. The Hebron yeshiva is looted and totally destroyed. All its br records are ripped to shreds and the furniture destroyed in an br orgy of madness. The home of the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Epstein, br is a major target of the murderers. They attack in a large force, br throwing huge stones through the windows. The men desperately try to hold the br doors against the mob, and the women cry out in panic. br Across the street stands the home of the governor of Hebron. The br cries of anguish move him to come out onto the balcony and br order the police, who have been standing by the whole time, to br chase the mob away. The mob is not impressed. He looks inside to see how many people he br can count, then leaves. Some moments pass, and suddenly the br sound of a large mob is heard. The Jews look out the windows br to see hundreds of Arabs following the Sheikh. They stand br around him, now, as he speaks to them: “You, Muslims!
